Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. She made the move to Oxfordshire when she was five which is where she went to the Dragon School. From the age of six Emma was aware she would like to become an actress. Over some time she trained at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre academy where she studied performing and singing. When she was 10 Emma was already taking part in a variety of Stagecoach Productions as well as school plays. The casting process began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. After eight continuous auditions, producer David Heyman told Emma and fellow applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast for the role of the three leads Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance on the big screen in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone made in 2001. It broke all records on opening day and weekend revenue, making it one of the top 2001 films. Film critics praised the film as well as its performances by the three acclaimed young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British newspaper, praised Emma's performance "amazing". Emma's performance won her a nomination and was awarded five more times for the film.
